Texelaar Collectie

Nieuw in ons assortiment is de ‘Texelaar Collectie’ van vormgeefster Christien Meindertsma. Deze kleine maar zeer speciale collectie bestaat uit een ottoman pouf en een tapijt, beide gemaakt van 100% Texelse wol.

De wol van deze Nederlandse schapen staat bekend om de mooie witte, bruine en grijze kleuren. Het complete proces van scheren, wassen, spinnen en breien vindt plaats in Nederland.

Het tapijt wordt gebreid met een breinaald maat 26 en voor de ottoman pouf worden ongeveer 500 meter aan wol strengen in elkaar gedraaid. Zowel de ottoman pouf als het tapijt is verkrijgbaar in de eerder genoemde 3 natuurlijke kleuren.

This year  Christien Meindertsma presents  ‘the texelaar collection’. This small but fine collection consists of an ottoman and a rug, manufactured from 100% Texelaar wool. The wool of this typical Dutch sheep is famous for his beautiful  white, brown and grey colours. The whole process from sheep shearing, wool washing, spinning an knitting takes place in Holland. For the rug, knitting needle size 26 is used; for the ottoman almost 500 meters of wool strings  is turned around in a specific way, giving  the ottoman his unique shape. The rug as well as the ottoman are available in the three natural colours.

After finishing the Design Academy Eindhoven in 2003, Christien Meindertsma started her own design label Flocks. With her projects “checked baggage”, “urchin pouf”, “pig 05049” and “the flax project”, she made her break through in the international design field. These projects have been exhibited all over the world and parts of her work is included in the permanent collection  of the Victoria & Albert Museum London,  MOMA New York and Zuiderzeemuseum Enkhuizen.
